About the IMU
The Information Management Unit (IMU) within the OPM – Equality, Reforms and Social Dialogue (OPM-ES) is the Ministry’s central organisation responsible for the strategic alignment, implementation, and support of digital technologies that enable the OPM-ES to deliver secure and effective services to the citizen and the public at large.
The IMU supports all departments, directorates and entities within the OPM-ES, ensuring that ICT infrastructure, systems, and services are robust, scalable, and aligned with prevailing laws, regulations and policies that will enable assurance in the deployment of national digital transformation goals.
Core Objectives
- Align ICT strategy with the Ministry’s operational and policy goals.
- Promote and advise on innovation and digital transformation across OPM-ES.
- Manage information as a strategic asset to support decision-making.
- Ensure good governance on data security, privacy, and compliance with national and EU regulations.
- Ensure reliable, accessible, and secure ICT infrastructure and services.
- Support the implementation of central ICT standards and protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic and operational ICT planning
- ICT procurement, budgeting, and resource optimisation
- Development and maintenance of information systems
- Ensure Networks, servers, and cloud infrastructure are used properly and under control
- Website and intranet management, including FITA compliance
- Technical support and VIP ICT services
- Software licensing and contract management
- Ensuring the proper delivery and execution of Co-Pilot and other Gen AI Tools
- Coordination of student placements and ICT training programmes
The IMU operates in accordance with national and international frameworks, including:
- GDPR – Data protection and privacy compliance
- GMICT Policy – Government ICT policy
